Will Assassin's Creed: Rogue for PC be worth it?

Assassin's Creed Rogue (Assassins Creed: Rogue) launches soon in PC. It's the final chapter of the American Saga in the franchise. In this open world adventure you'll control Shay Cormac, a former Assassin who has decided to become a Templar for revenge against his former Brotherhood. Why has he betrayed the Assassins? You will find out in this frenetic installment.

Graphics festival

Is it worth it to have waited for the PC launch of Assasin's Creed Rogue? As far as we know, the visual quality of this version of Rogue is superior to the PS3 and Xbox 360 ones. The game works in PC with a 1080p native resolution and many options to squeeze every last bit of its high definition textures. For example, its anti-aliasing removes every jagged edge that appeared in the console versions.

Assassin's Creed Rogue is more fluid in PC. This difference is specially apparent in the naval sequences. In PS3 and Xbox 360 these sequences suffered slowdowns due to the high quantity of elements on the screen: water effects, moving ships... In Rogue for PC the naval battles work like a charm.

AC Rogue for PC enjoys other improvements that may not be so spectacular but that combine to make the visual spectacle even better. For example, the draw distance is bigger so you will not see the grass appearing from out of nowhere any longer. The lightning has more options, you will see smoke coming out of cannons...

Everything else stays the same

As for the content, Assassin's Creed Rogue is still the same adventure you saw in the consoles: the story takes place in the mid-XIX century during the Seven Years' War and we play as Shay Patrick Cormac, and Assassin turned Templar. The gameplay is an evolution of the one saw in Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag: a combination of stealth and exploration in third person with naval battles.

We go back to the question we made in the beginning: has it been worth it to wait for the PC launch of Assassin's Creed? Graphically yes: there is no doubt about it. Soon you will be able to say goodbye to the American Saga of AC in style.
